Description
Passagem das Bestas, is a 4-hour hike on a 4 km trail in the south of Terceira Island, and takes place in a protected area belonging to the natural park of Terceira. In this trail it is possible to observe treadmills (marks of ox car wheels) that for centuries carried wood from the interior of the island) engraved in volcanic rock; get surprised by the beauty of the Caldeira Guilherme Moniz (crater of a volcano); photograph endemic and invasive flora; discover breathtaking landscapes; sight and photograph migratory and resident birds in the Azores. The trail has a medium difficulty, footing is usually irregular, has a maximum elevation of 100m in altitude, and it’s a circular route and it’s approximately 4 km long.
