Description
Lagoons and Volcanoes, is the combination of two activities (walking and tour focused on volcanology), with a full day duration (8 hours), and lunch included. In the morning, a walk along the Mistérios Negros trail – a 5-kilometer trail that stands out for its extreme natural beauty, whether of lakes and cryptomeria forests or endemic vegetation (Azorean erica), or even volcanic landscape. The walk has a medium degree of difficulty, there is a maximum elevation of approx.100 meters, on sometimes uneven terrain. This is followed by lunch (drinks included) at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, start a tour in a tourist car through the craters, volcanoes and some craters on the island of Terceira. Visit the interior of a lava tube (Gruta do Natal), and appreciate the various geological formations of basaltic rock; stroll around a fumarolic field (Furnas do Enxofre), and watch live the expulsion of volcanic gases from the Earth’s interior; visit the interior of an empty volcano (Algar do Carvão), and be amazed by the natural beauty of one of the most beautiful natural monuments in the Azores; Stop at natural swimming pools in Biscoitos town
