Description
The Lagoinha trail is known for being challenging but at the same time having a unique beauty. The walk will start in the parish of Serreta, and will be, most of the time, between forests of Cryptomeria Japonica, Pittosporum Undulatum and endemic plants such as the Azorean Erica and Vaccinium Cylindraceum, and along streams where their water paths have been diverted; Spot and photograph other islands belonging to the central group; contemplate the beauty of the lagoon that is located in the crater of an extinct volcano. This hike is split into two stages: 1st stage – ascent to the lagoon; 2nd moment – descent from the lagoon to the beginning of the trail. It is a recommended trail for all those who are physically fit. The trail is medium/hard difficulty, the footing is irregular, it has an elevation of approximately 400m in altitude, and the trail is a circular route with approximately 7km length.
