Join us on a 4-hour themed tour on Terceira Island (starting at 2:00 pm), with a greater focus on the island’s geology and volcanology. Climb to the top of the highest mountain on the island (Serra de Santa Bárbara) and see neighboring islands of the Central group; stroll through the leisure area of Lagoa das Patas, and enjoy the tranquility transmitted by the place as well as the beauty of the existing lagoon; visit the interior of a lava tube (Gruta do Natal), and appreciate the various geological formations of basaltic rock; stroll around a fumarolic field (Furnas do Enxofre), and watch live the expulsion of volcanic gases from the Earth’s interior; visit the interior of an empty volcano (Algar do Carvão), and be amazed by the natural beauty of one of the most beautiful natural monuments in the Azores; stop at the Serra do Cume viewpoint and marvel at the natural beauty of one of the largest volcanic craters in the Azores, a true “patchwork blanket”.
