Description
Join us on a thematic tour of 4 hours along Terceira Island (start at 14h00), with a the focus being on the geology and vulcanology of the island. Go over to the top of Serra do Cume and enjoy a magnificent view to the biggest volcanic crater of the Azores; continuing to the northern part of the island, stop at the town of Biscoitos to visit the natural pools formed by lava and the vineyards planted on volcanic rock; towards the interior of the island, visit the set of lava tunnels of Gruta do Natal, the fumarolic field of Furnas do Enxofre and the Algar do Carvão, an empty volcano.

ALGAR DO CARVÃO AND ITS VISITORS CENTRE ARE CLOSED DUE TO CONSTRUCTION, SINCE OCTOBER 20th.
The construction OF “CAVE – AZOREAN VOLCANO SPELEOLOGICAL CENTER” OF ALGAR DO CARVÃO will take approximately 18 months.
